The role of shock absorber

People usually say 'ride comfort' as performance or seat comfort, but the most important thing in a ride comfort is 'suspension'. The most important of these is the shock absorber.

When the vehicle stops, the spring attached to the suspension is fixed in a slightly contracted state but when the vehicle starts to move, the spring starts to fluctuate as the load of the vehicle body moves according to the bend of the road surface or the condition of the road. Due to the nature of the spring, it takes a lot of time to stop once the movement starts. The action of a shock absorber is needed to accommodate the expansion and contraction of these springs.
The shock absorber generates a force in the opposite direction when the spring contracts or expands, which will buffer the shock.

There is a more important role for shock absorbers than improving the stability and ride comfort of the vehicle, which is the improvement of the grip force of the tire. Depending on the condition of the road surface, when the tire loses momentary grip force, it loses its steering ability and is in a dangerous situation such as rollover of the vehicle. No matter how good tires are installed, without the role of a shock absorber, the tires and the ground will have to lose their grip force.

Because of this action, the characteristic of spring which repeats shrinkage and relaxation is fully controlled, and ride comfort and stability are secured.
When a vehicle meets the above factors, it can only run safely on the road.
